How to Connect Anthropic Claude to Conveliq with MCP

Claude can connect to Conveliq through MCP and work with the CRM, WhatsApp conversations, pipeline, knowledge base, and sales agent settings. The connection uses a remote HTTP server, so there is no Conveliq package to install and no local database to expose.

Conveliq now uses the same standard OAuth 2.1 flow for Claude Code and hosted OAuth-compatible MCP connectors. You add the MCP URL, authenticate in a browser, choose a workspace, and approve access. No API key is pasted into a command, configuration file, or environment variable.

Understand the connection

Claude sends MCP protocol requests to https://app.conveliq.com/api/mcp. When the endpoint returns an OAuth challenge, Claude discovers the Conveliq authorization endpoints, registers as a public client, and starts an authorization-code flow protected by PKCE.

Conveliq verifies every access token, checks that it was issued specifically for the MCP resource, resolves the approved organization, and enforces read or write scopes. Claude never receives your Conveliq password.

Prerequisites

For Claude Code, install a current release and sign in. For Claude.ai or another hosted Claude surface, your workspace must allow custom MCP connectors. In both cases the endpoint is the same: https://app.conveliq.com/api/mcp.

Add Conveliq to Claude Code

Run: claude mcp add --transport http --scope user conveliq https://app.conveliq.com/api/mcp. The command contains no Authorization header and no secret. User scope makes the server available across your local projects.

Start Claude Code and enter /mcp. Select Conveliq and choose Authenticate. Follow the browser link, sign in to Conveliq, verify the workspace name and permissions on the consent screen, and choose Authorize.

Claude stores the OAuth credentials securely and refreshes them automatically. Use Clear authentication in /mcp when you want to disconnect without removing the server definition.

For a hosted Claude connector, create a custom MCP connection and enter the same endpoint. The hosted service cannot read your laptop's environment variables, but it can complete the same browser-based OAuth flow.

Verify the server

Start with: "Use Conveliq to show the workspace overview. Read only. Do not update contacts, send messages, change agent settings, or create knowledge." The result should identify your organization and summarize channels, contacts, messages, escalations, orders, and bookings.

Then ask Claude to list recent conversations, inspect one contact, and summarize what the customer needs. These read operations prove that the token points to the intended workspace before you approve a tool that changes data.

Practical Claude workflows

For conversation work, ask Claude to summarize a selected contact and draft a reply without sending it. Review the recipient and text, then explicitly request sending only when the draft is correct.

Claude can add structured knowledge entries for products, services, FAQs, policies, promotions, store details, or locations. Ask it to repeat the proposed fields before creation. Accurate business knowledge is what makes FAQ automation useful.

For agent configuration, begin with a read. Ask Claude to show the advanced prompt and escalation rules, explain a proposed change, and wait for approval. Keep each change small because it affects future customer conversations.

Know the write boundaries

Conveliq marks contact updates, message sending, agent configuration changes, and knowledge creation as write actions. Review the tool name and arguments before approving them. Avoid permanent approval for customer messaging until the workflow has been tested.

Troubleshooting

A 401 usually means the OAuth login has not completed or the saved token is no longer valid. Open /mcp, clear authentication if necessary, and authenticate again. If the browser does not open automatically, copy the login URL Claude provides.

Opening the MCP URL directly in a browser returns a method response by design. Streamable HTTP MCP protocol traffic uses POST; clients fetch the OAuth metadata from the well-known discovery endpoints.

If tools connect but data is empty, confirm that you authorized the intended workspace and that its WhatsApp channel has current contacts. If a write tool needs additional scope, review the new consent request carefully.
